Social Development reiterates commitment to enhancing SASSA services

Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and dedication to strengthening South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) expert services during an engagement together with the agency's senior managers in a strategic planning session in Cape Town.

Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled during the 2024 matric final exams.

With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, symbolizing 81% of the registered pupils during the education sector.

These learners accomplished a commendable pass rate of 86%.

"This means that the expenditure government is making from the lives of poor and susceptible kids is yielding a favourable impression in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe reported.

Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She dedicated to read more urgently addressing The problem of long-lasting leadership appointments as well as shortage of staff at most area offices.

On top of that, the Minister highlighted the necessity for Neighborhood-based engagements and website outreach pursuits.

"Our Group is awaiting our enormous intensification of Local community outreach, where by we prioritise underserved areas to deliver providers closer to our folks," she reiterated.

With regards to SASSA programs, Tolashe urged management to read more prioritise strengthening and modernising programs to click here further improve accessibility, queue administration and stop fraud.

Moreover, the Minister has requested SASSA Performing CEO, Themba Matlou, to check here deliver a system that seeks to solve the problems of payment channels in rural places by supplying an alternative solution for payments.

"We dedicate ourselves to work with [SASSA]... We are available all of the time to deal with the difficulties jointly. We all need to be solution-pushed in our system to make alterations into the life of our people by means of concerted efforts," the Minister said.

SASSA is a countrywide agency of presidency that administers South Africa's social safety procedure, such as distributing social grants on behalf on the Department of Social Development. – SAnews.gov.za
